Online learning is expanding faster than ever before. That’s apparent to anyone looking to learn a bit more online, in the classroom, or on the go. From mobile learning to MOOCs, the industry is changing. From the demand for re-education to the current level of online education enrollment, there’s a lot to see. Here are a few of the key tidbits that you should know about in terms of online learning as it stands today.

  • In the United States, one out of every four colleges and universities offer an online course.
  • Just a few years ago (in 2008), the number of online students reached 4.6 million in the US. I imagine it is significantly higher right now.
  • Even the enrollment and online courses have seen significant increases since the year 2008. There’s been a 17% increase in online courses alone.
  • There are eight popular forms of online learning right now. From social media to search engines, there’s a lot of ways to find and start taking online courses.

We’re still really only starting to see the beginning of the increased demand for online education right now in the year 2013. The manner and means by which we learn have changed drastically over the past few years, and it’s going to continue to change any falls for many years to come.
